Dusty Abell loves the Seventies. I mean seriously loves the Seventies. And rightly so! This was when we rode bikes without helmets, laughed at seat belts, sat in the back of pick-ups, built go-carts and, most perhaps most importantly, we watched insane cartoons, played with action figures that actually performed actions and had shows that taught us lesson about life and Big Foot!
Dusty has put together an awesome homage to his fondest memories of being a kid in the seventies and the rise of pop culture. All of these influences have prepared Dusty for a career in illustration, whether animation or comic books. He has worked on King of The Hill, Ben 10 and Warner Brothers animation. His comic book work includes Marvel, DC, Dark horse and Image.
My first introduction to his work was the Official handbook to the Invincible Universe. Working with the characters from Robert Kirkman’s (Walking Dead) superhero universe, Dusty put together a collection of biographies, power definitions and character images by the industries best that lived up to the original Marvel Handbook in every sense.
