I believe the technical term is “screwed”.

You have to ask yourself sometimes, just how much does Marvel owe the success of their new film universe to Robert Downey Jr.? Obviously so many important elements have had to come together, but he has to have made things so much easier for Marvel. He always appears to enjoy playing Iron Man. I have to think that his enthusiasm has convinced other actors to buy in and enjoy the ride.
The newest trailer is even more evidence that he has a grasp on his superhero character like few actors before him have. Every indication is that he and Shane Black will be delivering a wickedly good movie.
On Sunday we will be getting a new Iron man 3 trailer during the Super Bowl. It costs approximately $3-4 million dollars for every thirty seconds of ad time, so I cannot begrudge Marvel for putting out a teaser for this event.
To make things even more interesting they have released a new poster featuring Tony Stark plummeting to Earth. I love this poster. It is very rare these days to see a poster that both depicts a potential scene from the movie but also delivers on the theme the film generates.

Hot Toys has shared the Iron Man 3: Tony Stark Limited Edition Collectible Figurine on their Facebook page. As always the level of detail and extras is staggering. That said, I hope the head sculpt is just a prototype. After all the Tony Stark figures they have done it is odd that the newest version is the least accurate likeness. I suspect they will correct it before it is released.

Who would have ever thought ten years ago that a statement like that could hold water? It is true though and this new trailer is only confirming it further. The Marvel film universe keeps moving forward and this trailer indicates that it might actually be gaining steam. It is still too early to say if the film will be great, but this trailer has definitely made me interested.
Shane Black is obviously going darker and truly exploring Stark as a complicated character. At the same time you can definitely tell that the action is going to be there and be there big time.
Oh, and he had the balls to go full-Mandarin.
Hot Toys has released images of the Iron Man Mark VII Armor from the Avengers film on their Facebook page. This is definitely the Swiss Army Knife of armors.

Apparently the Golden Rule is “He who has the Gold, makes the armor.”
Marvel revealed the Iron Man 3 Mark VIII armor this past weekend at the San Diego Comic-Con. From what I have seen so far in terms of reactions, the massive amounts of gold has not gone over well.
From what I have heard Marvel is aware of the issue, as vendors have made it clear that it is a bit too much as well. Apparently gold is a difficult color to produce in action figures and Marvel is looking to fix the issue. Whether they will make any large changes remains to be seen. Considering most of the armor is CGI now I suspect they could make that happen. Who knows, maybe that bump in the film’s budget wasn’t just because of the Avengers success?
Even with all the gold it is a cool looking armor. And it was a pretty bold, if slightly overzealous, move.
