I believe the technical term is “screwed”.
I’m kind of digging this look. It manages to pay homage to the original comic book design, but turns the Asian-motif from caricature to eccentricity. Ben Kingsley looks like he carries considerable power with a nice tinge of insanity. Kind of a “What if Elvis had been a scientist instead of a musician?”

Marvel has shared a new character poster on their Facebook page, The Iron Patriot. Don Cheadle looks ready to dish out pain and frozen treats!
On Sunday we will be getting a new Iron man 3 trailer during the Super Bowl. It costs approximately $3-4 million dollars for every thirty seconds of ad time, so I cannot begrudge Marvel for putting out a teaser for this event.
To make things even more interesting they have released a new poster featuring Tony Stark plummeting to Earth. I love this poster. It is very rare these days to see a poster that both depicts a potential scene from the movie but also delivers on the theme the film generates.

Anyway, see if you can spot the difference between the new poster and the old one after the jump. Enjoy the semi-new trailer as well. Continue Reading
Twentieth Century Fox has released an international poster for the upcoming “The Wolverine” film. I think it is possible that James Mangold’s poster is actually better than the entirety of the previous Wolverine movie.
You can also check out the motion version of the poster here.
I have been a fan of Guillermo Del Toro for a good while now. I really wish he had stayed on The Hobbit, just to get a different flavor for that film universe. However, if missing out on Bilbo gave him the time to work on Pacific Rim, I can get past it. This is looking bad ass.
How can you go wrong with giant robots fighting giant monsters? It has worked for the Japanese for decades. Throw in a great cast with Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day and the Del Toro must-have, Ron Perlman and you have pure movie magic.
Just the thought that someone with the talent and attention to detail of Del Toro working with mecha and monsters gets me excited. This is amazing visual candy. Fingers crossed the story shares a similar strength. Continue Reading
I am really warming up to this new Superman film, despite the movie looking rather cold. There is an obvious attempt to create a sense of depth and darkness to the Superman story. I have heard a number of fans worry that it will not have the same upbeat tone as the original Superman movie with Christopher Reeves.
This doesn’t bother me. How can Superman be considered a beacon of hope if there is no darkness to contend with? While the Richard Donner directed Superman films had a nice tongue-in-cheek attitude and kept things light, I don;t need a repeat of that. In fact, we already had that in Superman Returns. Let’s move on.
The only thing the Man of Steel film needs to honor from those great movies is their quality. So far it looks promising. Continue Reading
