Okay, so it’s Bishop. He, along with Cable, sums up just about everything I was not fond of in the X-Men comics of the late eighties and nineties. I will not go so far as to say I hated the characters, because they had some interesting stories at times. That said, these were easily the most poorly conceived characters in the history of the X-Men.
First you throw in the mess of time travel. The only franchise worse than the X-Men with time travel is Star Trek. What a crutch. This is such lazy storytelling. It basically says you can’t get the story done with your regular characters. Plus, it constantly paints you into a corner because you have set up the future for your characters. Unless you cop-out and say it is a possible, alternate future. Even crappier.
Second, this was the dawn of the militant uniform for the X-Men. I like my superheroes to have costumes, not fascist police uniforms. Bishop wore this uniform forever.
Third, he has a mutant power. a kind of cool one. Yet he insists upon carrying around a gun. I swear for the first five years I didn’t even know what his mutant power was.
I will just leave the Jerry-curl alone.
Anyway, Randy Bowen of Bowen Designs has shared some painted sneak pics over at Statue Marvels of the mutant from a future, but not our future because that would have tied the hands of future X-Men writers and they just chose to ignore that. It is actually pretty cool looking, but that is to be expected from the Kucharek Borthers. Continue Reading

The mutant cop from the future is finally getting his statue due from Bowen Designs. Randy Bowen posted a sneak peek of the Bishop at Statue Marvels. The Kucharek Brothers are sculpting the only mutant with a more confusing timeline than Cable.
Oh, and don’t worry, the jheri curl will be added. And if you have a favorite alternate look for Bishop, be sure to voice your opinion in this thread at Statue Marvels.
Personally, I never cared much for Bishop. He is a mutant with energy manipulating powers, but almost always carried a gun. And Chris Claremont, for all the good he did on the X-Men, should always feel guilty for introducing time-travel to the X-Men.
Randy Bowen has posted a sneak peek of Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of Crime. This spec piece by Keith Kopinski will likely get made in the next license period. Discuss it at Statue Marvels!
